October Monthly Meeting, October 13, 2026

We continued our annual tradition with another gathering at GMP Mooresville in October.  The weather was ideal and we had about 100 PCA members, friends, and GMP staff attending the event.  Just look at the buffet below (provided by GMP as usual) and you understand why these meetings are always very popular...

Just walking through the Porsche Corral was worth attending the monthly meeting at GMP:

The buffet:  great barbecue with all the fixings...  Beer and wine were compliments of our PCA AD budget.

The crowd had to endure another lengthy talk by yours truly (😉)...  We had several first timers attending (they always receive a little gift), sharing their love for the brand. We provided a brief recap of our last PCA drive organized by Don Savage (these drives are very popular, and Don does a great job!  Thank you!!!👍)

Then several members of the GMP staff addressed the PCA group.  GMP provides - aside from full-service work for our Porsches - upgrades, tunes, repairs, professional cleaning, etc. And - of course - let's not forget the track side assistance they can provide, especially with the annual DE event at VIR coming up.  I have used this service for a VIR event in the past and it was outstanding.

As usual, we conducted our always popular raffle at the end of the meeting.  We raffled off many great prizes including items from the PCA Goodie Store, Griot's garage, Hagerty, and Jeff Matthew (he donated another of his great Porsche cutting boards, see below).

We were able to raise $900.00 for our charity, Children's Hope Alliance/Barium Springs Home for the Children in Troutman, bringing our total for the year to over $5,500!  Please see below our October raffle winner Jim Meletiou, winning a beautiful Porsche cutting board (thank you Jeff), and a PCA duffle bag that fits perfectly in a Porsche frunk.  Congrats!

And here is our September raffle winner, Mike Venditti:

September Update

The weather for our August monthly meeting (of course on the second Tuesday) was a little challenging. There were thunder and lightning in the area, so the Porsche corral was short lived as the PCA members attending, rushed inside. Nevertheless, the 35 + members who braved the weather had a great time, as we conducted a nice, casual, low key, enjoyable meeting and dinner.

Our own Jeff Matthews is celebrating his 30-year work anniversary at his present location in downtown Mooresville with a great party (food, great music, and drinks provided) and Porsche Corral on October 4
th starting at 3:30 pm. More to come.

October 16 to 18 is Club Race and DE weekend at CMP. PCA is still looking for volunteers for the event – it’s a great way to get involved! Please see clubregistration.net

GMP will conduct their annual hosting of the LKN PCA Club on October 13
th. It will be great fun just like every year… Look for the monthly email invite.

And the LKN Christmas Party is now set for December 8
th at the Lakehouse (set up will be similar to last year). More to come.

We conducted our always popular raffle after dinner and raised $450.00 (thank you everyone). We raffled off many nice items purchased with the AD stipend such as cups, mugs, hats, computer bag, backpack, umbrellas, and a few items from Griot’s Garage. The grand prize (Porsche beauty bag and computer bag) was won by yours truly (I promise, it was all on the up and up!).

Don’t forget, cars and coffee at Porsche Northlake is every first Saturday from 8 to 10 am.

August Update

We met up at our usual site – The Lakehouse Wine Bar & Grill – for our monthly meeting in June (as always on the second Tuesday). And again, we enjoyed a perfect spring day in the Carolinas with a wonderful Porsche Corral.

Around 50 members who stayed for dinner had a chance to upgrade their Porsche paraphernalia… Margie Gottwalt with the Goodie store had graciously agreed to join our meeting and had brought great Porsche encrusted apparel and a bunch of great trinkets… Everybody always enjoys having the Goodie store at the meeting, again thank you Margie.

We conducted our popular raffle after dinner and raised $540 (thank you everyone for your generosity). We raffled off quite a few great items (from the Goodie store and Griot’s Garage). We also added Porsche belts (thank you Jeff Matthews for engraving the belt buckles). The grand prize winner was none other than yours truly…

On June 14th we conducted our second Porsche drive this year. We met up in Denver and took a few great backroads to Morganton. Our LKN Drive Coordinator, Don Savage, had put together a perfect tour and everyone enjoyed it very much, Thank you Don! We had a great variety of Porsches participating that were certainly fantastically looking…. After we finished our drive, we concluded this great event with a mutual lunch in Morganton. Please see the attached photo of all the drivers. Our next Porsche drive is scheduled during the September/October timeframe. Please stay tuned…

June in the LKN Area

For our monthly May meeting (of course on the second Tuesday) we were able to enjoy another perfect spring day in the Carolinas.

We had several new members in attendance and there was a great variety of beautiful Porsches on display…

About 50 members stayed for dinner (several had already left after the Porsche corral) at the Lakehouse. After more than a year, the staff has become quite efficient in serving our usually fairly large group.

After dinner we had a few small announcements and Tracy reminded everyone again to consider signing up for an Autocross event. Our drive coordinator Don is planning another drive for June 13th, more to come.

We conducted our always popular raffle after dinner and raised $580 (thank you everyone). We raffled off quite a few great items (from the Goodie store and Griot’s Garage). Jeff Matthews donated again a couple of great cutting boards, GMP some little trinkets, and LKN Auto Exchange another full oil change (our grand prize) – thank you very much for that. Anand bought six tickets and won three (!) prizes including our great prize – congrats!

Bob, Teresa, and Martin and Maureen had a great time at the meeting and our always best dressed attendee (Tracy) attracted the ladies…

May LKN Happenings

For our April monthly meeting (as always on the second Tuesday) we had again ordered beautiful sunny skies and mild temperatures, and it was delivered…  The Porsche corral was a little “mixed up” with non-Porsches but that did not prevent the roughly 40 PCA members and friends from having a great time (see photo, Christine, Kurtis, Tracy, Jeff, Rocio, Bob).

As usual, the group had to “endure” a brief recap of local events by their favorite Area Director. The Porsche meet on 4/4 and subsequent drive organized by Don Savage was a great success and additional events are already in the planning stage. Paul Kaperonis gave the group a short overview of the recent events at the Hendrick 10/10 event (on the same weekend as the Autofair). Evidently, there were lots of exceptional cars on display.

We conducted our always popular raffle after dinner and raised $455 (thank you everyone). We raffled off many nice items purchased with the AD stipend from the Goodie store and Griot’s Garage. Jeff Matthews and John Cleveland with LKN Auto Exchange continue to be generous contributors to our raffle prizes as well. It was great to see that Jeff hauled in a few wins himself this time.

Our grand prize winner of a full Porsche oil change compliments of LKN Auto Exchange was Martin von Dyck.  Congrats!

The Lakehouse is a great venue for us and PCA members always seem to enjoy themselves.  A beautiful Carolina evening, mild temperatures, low humidity, and a beautiful Boxster: how can you not be happy???

April Update for LKN Area

For our March monthly meeting we had again ordered beautiful sunny skies and mild temperatures and it was delivered… We started the Porsche corral at 6 pm (of course on the second Tuesday) as there was still plenty of daylight. Kurtis showed off his newly converted beauty: new shoes and rims and a brand new carbon hood.

And the corral was filled with beautiful Porsches After everybody had time to order off the great menu at the Lakehouse, there was a brief introduction by yours truly, sharing a few updates, such as our first drive of the year planned for April 4th with a separate note to be sent to all PCA members by our driving coordinator Don. Tracy said a few words about Autocross too.

Overall, we had about 50 members and friends in attendance.
We conducted our always popular raffle after dinner and raised $555 (thank you everyone). We raffled off many nice items purchased with the AD stipend such as cups, mugs, hats, computer bag, backpack, umbrellas, etc. We now added items from Griot’s Garage, and they are also very popular! The grand prize was a Porsche crest engraved computer bag won by Brad Luzius.

PCA members always have a great time as evidenced by this exquisite crowd.

Guards red (or as Jay Leno refers to it as “arrest-mered”) is just a beautiful color for Porsches (and of course I am not partial) as evidenced by these three late night leftover beauties in the Porsche corral.

Porsche Northlake had its Grand Opening on March 12th. They went out of their way entertaining the crowd with excellent food and drinks, live music, photo booth, and more. There was an official ribbon cutting by Mr. Mills. Mr. Mills gave a very interesting speech, talking about his success starting from very humble beginnings.

Here is the Porsche Northlake GM, Joe Romano, in front of a great Porsche specimen, a 2025 GT3RS during the Grand Opening. Surprisingly enough Joe wouldn’t accept my sticker price offer… However, who can say no to this great new Porsche Northlake sales force .

We always knew that Tim Lingerfeldt does great work at Carolina Coach Crafters, however, this almost completely hand-crafted specimen recently won accolades at the Amelia Island Concourse and is just stunning!  It’s named “Traumwagen” and that is certainly no exaggeration.

Sincerely,

March Lake Norman Update

We conducted our February monthly meeting at our usual “home”, The Lakehouse Wine, Bar & Grill on the second Tuesday. The weather was quite nice, and everybody was glad that we were able to get our Porsches safely back on the road after all those snow events. Due to the shorter daylight, we started our outside gathering at 5:30 pm. The Porsche Corral was well “populated” (please see photo) and there were over 35 PCA members and friends in attendance.

Kathy and Kavitha are enjoying the Porsche corral.

As usual, we had a brief introduction by the LKN area’s favorite AD (well since there is only one…) sharing a few updates, such as DE at CMP, Autocross, planned LKN area drive in March.

After a delicious dinner (I have not had anything at the Lakehouse yet that I did not like), Paul Kaperonis with Hagerty gave his presentation (please see photo) with Steven assisting

Paul updated the captive audience on market values of our favorite vehicles as well as some exotics (e.g. 918s, GTs, 959s etc.). He also gave us an overview of Hagerty products such as cherished value (for a little extra fee the client will receive the damaged car for full residual use even if the insurance totaled the car).

We conducted our always popular raffle after dinner. We raffled off many nice items purchased with the AD stipend such as cups, mugs, hats, bags, coasters, umbrellas, etc. We now added items from Griot’s Garage and they are enjoying tremendous popularity!

The grand prize was a Porsche crest engraved bottle of Scotch (donated by Jeff Matthews) and an oil change at LKN Auto Exchange (thanks John!). We raised $465.00 for the children and families supported by Children’s Hope Alliance in Barium Springs.

Our February grand prize winner was Fabio Diaz who had bought $40 worth of tickets (he obviously increased his odds).

PCA members certainly enjoyed themselves at the event Just look at this handsome bunch

Since we missed the January issue, here is Hal Harper, the winner of the January grand prize. Tracy is displaying the Porsche sign he bought (Bob Hintze sold a few items) for his personal Porsche museum with a few of his friends (Martin, Quentin, Jim, Jeff, and Christian). We raised $390 for our charity in January.
